| | | Salman Khan has often made paintings of his close industry friends and gifted it to them. But for a change here is a woman who has painted Salman Khan. And this is no common painting since it has been done in space in zero-gravity conditions. The lady who has managed this rare feat is Ankita Joshi who thus becomes the first woman in the world to paint in zero-gravity and Salman Khan happens to be the first personality being painted in space. Ankita's fascination for Salman Khan goes back a long way and when she had a chance to paint in zero-gravity she decided to paint Salman in his popular 'Chulbul Pandey' avatar from Dabangg. She has even applied to the Guinness Book of World Records for her exceptional feat. Wonder what Sallu's reaction would be when he hears of this rare feat by a die-hard fan of his? | | | | | |

| | | They are among the hottest young actors of the current generation and when they came together for a special photo-shoot, sparks were bound to fly. We are talking about the charming Imran Khan and the gorgeous Anushka Sharma who feature in this month's issue of Hi Blitz. Imran, who debuted with a bang, with Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na had a few B.O. disasters before his next big hit I Hate Luv Storys. The actor says, "After IHLS, I decided that I must work with people whom I respect and who respect me because I want to enjoy the process of making a film." Meanwhile Anushka too speaks about how the success of Band Baaja Baaraat took her by surprise. The chirpy actress says, "I never expected BBB to be successful. I was scared whether the film would work because there were no big stars in it. Not many would agree to work with a newcomer at the beginning of their career but I agreed to do so because of my faith in Aditya Chopra, Maneesh Sharma and the script." Imran has worked with some of the hottest leading ladies in B-town from Kareena to Katrina while Anushka has shared screen space with biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. However, they are yet to star together in a film but going by the looks of this photo-shoot, they surely would make for one sizzling on-screen couple. | | | | | |

| | | Shahid's looks may be remarkable, but his brain is astounding. Talking to him is extraordinary. He seems to have a unique way of processing the world around him. Although the 30 year-old has worked consistently for the past eight years, he made his name with two performances which showcased his remarkable physical versatility and skill as an actor, the commercially successful Jab We Met and the critically acclaimed Kaminey. So when I sit with Shahid at an arm's length and see him talk, you can easily make out the actor's rebellious journey so far...and boy it has paid off! 'Boring' is not the word Shahid would use for his formative years in acting. The actor is sitting on his sofa and yet seems tall, tall in confidence. He's eight years sober now and loves it, growing his self-esteem and enjoying life. Doing things he's never done before, and by saying that I refer to his most ambitious film till date, Mausam. As he sips his Barista coffee specially ordered for him, he makes no apologies for serving me his home made black coffee. He is far too busy talking incessantly, articulately about his love-hate relationship with his work. 'I love what I do and I am doing exactly that. Mausam is my love,' he says. Post Kaminey, Shahid has proved himself to be something unique: not a handsome young Indian actor, but a chameleon with much more to him than meets the eye and off late, in every aspect of his life - most notably his work - Shahid seems to be hell-bent on bettering himself. So again I ask the questions - Will Mausam be the best rather than better? Will Shahid better his best till date (Kaminey)? UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent brings you Part 2 of this exclusive chat with Shahid Kapoor on his relationship with his father, director and mentor Pankaj Kapoor, his Scottish kilt, his Twitter and Facebook status and his strong belief that love is all about issues, insecurities and lack of trust....and we still love Shahid, don't we? Here's to love, life, Mausam and more. "I was a little nervous the first time around while facing dad" My father is somebody who is very open to conversations and I think I was a little nervous the first time around while facing him. But we cracked it instantly. He knew that I wasn't stepping on the sets as an actor but as his son too and it was my film as much as it is his. We developed a great working relationship. I really depend on him a lot when it comes to acting. The most beautiful thing about doing this film with my father is that I can just trust him. "We were in Scotland for almost two months and I did wear that famous Scottish kilt" I was shooting in Scotland when I decided to take a three day break to visit London. But I kept it quiet as I wanted to spend sometime not discussing the film or talking to the Press. So I decided to go to Wimbledon and watch Murray sweat it out with Nadal in the Quarter Finals. London is a great city and I love it. We were in Scotland for almost two months and I did wear that famous Scottish kilt. "I am off Facebook. But I'm not off Twitter" I am very moody. So as of now, I am off Facebook. But I'm not off Twitter. Whenever I feel the need to tweet, I do it. If I am in a headspace I talk about it but not otherwise. It's a thin line because you also want to keep a lot of things private. Things which I am comfortable talking about, I post it on Twitter but I don't feel the urge to tweet every day. "We are imperfect. We have issues, we lack trust sometimes, and we have our insecurities" There was a time when issues cropped up in love due to external factors. Parents, religion, etc. Now, the issue of love lies within us. Love stories are being made forever, since the time films were being made. The more relevant love stories are the ones which talk about problems coming from the people who are in that relationship. We are imperfect. We have issues, we lack trust sometimes and we have our insecurities. And these are the things that cause issues in any love story in today's times, especially if you are making a contemporary love story. That's how I look at it but anyone is entitled to their take in 'love'. "My dad's problem was my problem, on or off the sets" Any problem which my dad had on set was my problem. I was always available to him as and when he felt the need for me to participate in something. I wasn't just an actor on the sets, I was his son too. And I am his son first and then an actor. | | | Anupam Kher will be flying to Los Angeles this month. He will be meeting with his new friend the Californication star Rob Lowe. The two shot recently together in Canada for a film called Breakaway which launches Akshay Kumar's best friend and business partner Ajay Virmani's son Vinay. Anupam and Rob hit it off instantly. While the rest of unit bonded amongst themselves, the two of them were constantly huddled together between shots. Apparently, Rob poured his heart out to Anupam about everything including his sex-tape controversies. They also discussed ways to bring Bollywood into American cinema. Anupam who is no stranger to international films, has apparently suggested a collaborative venture with Rob Lowe. Says Anupam, "I'm certainly not going to share what Rob and I spoke about with you. But yes, we did a form a pretty solid bonding during Breakaway. Rob is a really good guy and a great conversationalist." This week they bonded on Twitter in ways that melted Anupam's heart. Says Anupam, "Rob has appeared on the cover of the new edition of Vanity Fair magazine. I tweeted him to congratulate him. He tweeted back saying, 'You are a Hero of an actor for me.' It was such a heart-warming thing to say, coming from one actor to another." Anupam earlier formed a strong bonding with filmmakers Ang Lee and Woody Allen while working with them in Lust, Caution and You'll Meet A Tall Dark Stranger respectively. "But it wasn't like Rob," confesses Anupam. "We've become partners in an ongoing interaction. We share views on everything from cinema to life to life in the cinema." And here's what Anupam is longing to keep a secret. This month when he meets up with Rob Lowe again, Anupam will offer him a film that Anupam will produce where the two will star together. | | | | | |

| | | Bow to the wow. Men, we are told, are dogs. They cheat on their wives. And have themselves the time of their lives. And the wives, poor creatures, are so devoted to their spouses they observe the Karva Chauth for their pati-devils even when they have no reason to do so. Such devotion in show motion. Thank You is a kind of backhanded ode to the classic Indian wife we grew up watching in the films where the resplendent Nutan would sing 'Tumhi Mere Mandir Tumhi Mere Pooja' to her smug husband. Serene was the key them. Over-zealous is the mainstay now. Times have changed. But mores and marital values have only shifted location. Inexplicably Thank You is shot in Canada. Caucasian girls steeped in a slutty splendour, fill up the fringes of the saturated frames. Blonde salad-dressing apart, the message at the heart of Thank You remains as desi as the Punjabi accent that Akshay Kumar doesn't even try to conceal. Since this is a film about the perils of skirt-chasing, there are plenty of women of all shapes and sizes in skirts (including Sonam Kapoor whose dress code defies all analysis) and other designer clothes. For that talented writer Anees Bazmee, the theme of infidelity in Thank You is familiar territory. In the past he has done jokey takes on men who can't keep their libido down with varying degrees of humour. A certain higher level of intelligence is perceptible in the way the characters are put out for scrutiny in the light of their unfaithful characters. Irrfan Khan as the sarcastic bully of a husband scores the highest marks in the acting department. His wry caustic responses to semi-petrified wife Rimi Sen make a mocking mark mainly for the way the lines are written and delivered. Irrfan is priceless in projecting parody. Rimi Sen, an underrated actress provides Irrfan valuable support. Akshay Kumar plays the pied piper of the libido. He tries to teach the three womanizers how to check their carnal instincts. That is the best joke in the film. Such self-righteous cool roles of the social reformer are not new to Akshay. He delivers a rousing monologue at the end on the virtues of fidelity. While his comic timing remains sharp and spot-on, it is the way he tries to create an aura of suspense about his character's motives as a man on a mission that provides a cutting edge to the tale of three skirt-chasers. Remarkably the dialogues remain free of innuendos. Surprising, considering how lurid films about infidelity have gotten in the past. The proceedings adhere to a sense of fun without getting cheesy. Suneil Shetty's body language and comic timing in some sequences show his coming of age as an actor of mirthful value. Thank You has moments that come close to illuminating the underbelly of infidelity. But fearful of forsaking the mood of a riotous farce writer-director Anees Bazmee pulls out of any serious statement to lounge languidly in his comfort zone. As far as masala comedies go Thank You gets by on the strength of some smart writing, sassy dialogues and of course a handful of performers who try to balance out the lackluster performances of other actors who, lethally for a comedy, just don't get it. | | | | | |
